Predicting cardiac risk - Want to identify a patient at risk for perioperative cardiac morbidity? Would you like to quantify that risk? Try this simplified, 6-item, version of the original Goldman index by Lee et al.

Preoperative cardiac testing - AHA algorithm combines urgency of surgery, surgical risk, and functional capacity to determine who needs noninvasive cardiac testing before noncardiac surgery.

Implementing ACC/AHA Guidelines: Effect on Perioperative Outcome - 181 pateints meeting ACC/AHA (2002) criteria for non-invasive cardiac testing were followed. Ischemia was present in only 15% of those tested. Only 9% were received angiography and 5% were revascularized.
